Coffee

Bean Know Your Beans

If you're a coffee nut like me, you probably already know your beans and know them well. I can drink a cup of coffee and tell you what kind of beans were used, you probably can to.

There are over 30 species of coffee beans available today, but the two most popular ones are Arabica and Robusta. The differences between Arabica and Robusta coffee beans are as different as night and day. If you are an avid coffee drinker then you probably already know the differences when comparing the two different and distinct coffees. Arabica beans have a much more delicate, finer taste; their flavor is richer, and more full-bodied. While the Robusta bean has less flavor yet twice the caffeine.

To understand this difference it is important to understand their cultivation. Arabica beans are grown at higher attitudes, and are more difficult to harvest. When the Arabica bean matures it falls to the ground and must be harvested within a short period of time.
If it is not harvested quickly it will spoil. The Robusta bean is grown in abundance and very well in both high and low altitudes, this makes them quite available in huge quantities. Both Arabica and Robusta beans grown in tropical climates. The comparison is an easy one to make both in cultivation and that desired taste and the fresh roasting process by Bello Montana makes the bean even BETTER!
