Coffee - Good to Drink and Good For Drinkers!
DId anyone else read the recent study that was featured on NPR where it showed that drinking coffee showed a direct result in the lessening of a chance of a heavy drinker getting cirrhosis?
"A study shows coffee may help offset liver damage caused by alcohol abuse. Alcoholics who drank more coffee were far less likely to develop cirrhosis. But researchers warn that coffee does not erase all risks of heavy drinking."
So, by my line of thinking if you drink really good coffee then you get really good benefits and what could be better than fresh roasted coffee?
I've never been much of a drinker - geez I'm such a coffee fan the only alcoholic drinks I get involve coffee or coffee liqueors! Irish coffee will always be a wintertime favorite. But it is good to know if I ever want to completely change my lifestyle and indulge in some serious alcoholism, I can turn to coffee to save my liver!
Just kidding, I really wouldn't do that but I will keep drinking Bello Montana and spouting its praises to everyone!
and while you're at it - get yourself a zbean email address and save real money on your next coffee order from Bello Montana!

Coffee Desperation
Okay, so I thought I could get along without Bello Montana, but I can't. I ran out of the good stuff a couple of months ago, around Easter to be exact. At Easter, we had a pot of Bello Montana (the good stuff) and then we had to make a pot of decaf (grocery store coffee) for someone else at the table. I had some of both and chasing the decaf after the Bello Montana was a bad idea. I could really tell the difference. The grocery store stuff was just watery and blah.
My brother-in-law argues that I have the coffee shops chains to thank for that. He says the chains have conditioned us all to the taste for strong, bold coffee. I argue that we've all grown used to the weak, stale, grocery store coffee and we don't know good coffee when we taste it. Order some Bello Montana and buy yourself a small can (don't waste too much money) of the grocery store stuff and try them back to back. You will taste the difference and know the truth.
Stop by the Bean Daily.com for free email and a discount on fresh roasted coffee.

Make Your Own Special Fresh Roasted Blend
We recently had a dilemma. We were down to a little in our America the Beautiful blend bag of coffee beans and a little in our Mystical Moose blend. We didn't want to make just a little coffee - so we combined the beans and made an outstanding pot of coffee. We've been joking with names like the "Mystical 'Merica" and "The Beautiful Moose" blends. It was seriously good.
If you're running low on your coffee - be a little experimental. We're always looking for yummy additions to coffee too. If you read a previous post, I can certify for you, eggnog is terrible in coffee no matter how good the coffee is. We've used it in brownies, cakes, cheesecakes and my friends are always borrowing enough beans for "one more pot" of coffee, so as you can see, coffee goes really fast around here!
Just wanted to pass on that tip - if you're running low on your coffee and your next bag hasn't arrived - experiement!
Get cool coffee discounts by getting a zbean account and using it to order!

A Lego Coffee Maker?
I love to cruise by Single Serve Coffee dot com on a lot of mornings and catch the coffee related news from the serious to the wacky. I saw a really amusing story on Friday that I wanted to share with you. A couple of programmers got together with a couple of builders and they got a couple of Lego Mindstorm Robots that will make coffee. How cool is that?
So, if you've been dreaming of a Jetsons-like future where a robot will come make your coffee while you snooze in bed, you're almost there and it was done with Legos (yep, those little plastic squares your kids love to leave in the path you've chosen to walk in your living room in your bare feet for maximum pain value).
Check out the story here.

Coffee is Best When....
I have a lot of ways I like coffee. Sometimes I just like it plain with nothing added. The America the Beautiful Blend is bar none my favorite roast to have "plain jane" but there's nothing plain about the taste! It also melds well with chocolate and whipped cream if you want something really decadent and yummy.
Espresso is just already so good it doesn't need anything added. And I hadn't had Mystical Moose blend in a while and man oh man is it ever good with a shot of vanilla and slosh of coffee liqueur. Black coffee, no matter how yummy can get a little dull day after day, revv up your coffee experience and be creative. I have a friend that puts cinnamon, cream and nutmeg in her coffee (She drinks America the Beautiful Blend and only America the Beautiful Blend ) and has a cup of her spiced up coffee with a piece of cake for dessert on a pretty regular basis. I personally thought cinnamon and nutmeg sounded pretty horrible but with some pleading I finally tried it and it was just fantastic.
Make a pot of coffee and experiment - especially with the warmer summer months here - a fabulous, cold coffee drink is so cooling and refreshing. Turn your kitchen into a laboratory and see if you can design your new favorite way to drink coffee!
