Truth
I had to pick up a wedding gift at the mall. Fortunately, I got a great parking place in the garage right next to a concrete support column. I was concentrating on maneuvering the mini-van in without hitting the car on my right and I took the rearview mirror off the other side courtesy of the concrete column. I was so startled by the bang that I spilled my cup of coffee all over my lap. So now I had wet, coffee stained jeans, a mirror hanging by scary looking wires and no wedding gift.
I dabbed up the coffee as best I could with the huge stash of napkins I keep in the glove box. I still looked like I wet my pants (or worse), but I wasn't driving all the way back home to change so I hot-footed it inside. The registry clerk was extremely helpful. She wanted to show me everything on the list while sneaking slightly concerned glances at my "problem". I explained to her that I had spilled my coffee and she looked relieved. I ended up purchasing a coffee grinder from the registry and we had a good laugh.
I hurried back to the van, holding my shopping bag in front of me and drove home, mirror dangling. I parked on the left hand side of the driveway and went in to change my jeans and make supper. My husband got home shortly thereafter and we had supper, then dessert. I was still sitting at the table finishing up my coffee when he told me he would go pull the van in for the evening. (The moment of truth.)
He left and was back within 30 seconds looking furious and asking me what happened to my mirror.
I walked with him outside and looked at the mangled mirror. I took a deep breath, then like any good, honest partner would do I said, "What did you do to my mirror?!"

Coffee Love - Fresh Roasted or Otherwise
Ick. I've been so so sick the past few weeks.
I caught a simple cold which morphed into a nasty upper res infection and then decided its goal when it grew up was to be walking pnuemonia... Just when I was feeling better a week or so ago, BAM as Emeril would say, it came and got me again.
Finally, I feel human again and had my first cup of coffee in about a week (I don't know when I've gone so long without drinking coffee!) and I was looking for something on the web and I found something hysterical I wanted to share with you.
Have you ever seen the Internet Archives? Well, they have a huge collection of 1940s and forward industrial and educational films, and there is one called "This is Coffee" and it was put out the "Coffee Brewing Institute" doesn't that sound official?
You will learn how to wrestle open the "closed fist of the bean" and exactly how YOU should be making your coffee. The narrator sounds like he is drinking something a little extra in his coffee.... it's a definite giggle if you have about 10 minutes.
You can see it here - let me know what you think.
Now my cup is empty so off to fill it up!
JoLynn

Strangers
My mother told me never to talk to strangers. My husband still tells me the same thing. But they are so darn INTERESTING!
I stopped at the gas station on my way to work this morning and was filling up the tank, sipping on my travel mug full of Leaping Goats coffee (of course). The lady in the car across the median was filling up too and was drinking a cup of the gas station coffee - so of course I had to tell her about my new found coffee craze and Leaping Goats. (My husband insists that nobody really wants to hear my random opinions but I disagree and continue to share my opinions with the world. :) Anyway, she seemed interested in my "coffee talk" and we struck up quite a conversation.
I tell her all about "The Coffee Guy" and Leaping Goats. I share the story about the coffee's funny name and my kids. She laughs, I laugh. Then it's her turn. It turns out interestingly enough, that this woman's mother was the Lindberg baby and she has embarked on a lifelong quest to prove her family heritage and dispel the myth that the kidnapped child was actually a boy.
She also promised to give Leaping Goats coffee a try.

I Lie to My Kids
My kids like coffee. Ever since Grandma gave them a taste they have been hooked. I have steadfastly refused to let them drink coffee at home but Grandma has always been a bigger pushover than me. Now they have been extremely curious about my new "Leaping Goats" coffee. It sounds fun. It tastes great. They would love it.
I know many parents and educators will tell you that you should not lie to children. I personally don't have a problem with it. I have had to fabricate a story (OK- In English, A LIE!) about my coffee to keep them away. I told them that the "Leaping Goats" blend is made from goats that had mental problems and would jump around pastures until they dropped dead. (They have no clue about the world of coffee beans or exactly what the drink is made of. Lucky me!) So far this story has kept them peeking into my cup with a sense of awe and disgust but they are keeping their kid cootie mouths away from my coffee!

The New Guy
This new guy at work brought in some coffee as a "treat" one morning. I thought, big deal, we already have a pot of coffee brewing in the break room. Boy was I surprised! He had brought in "Leaping Goats" from Bello Montana and it was truly fantastic. I am hooked! I am anxious to try "America the Beautiful" now.
Our "Leaping Goats" coffee caraffe was drained within the first hour of work. The new guy has now become "The Coffee Guy" and we love him. We just hope he keeps on bringing in the coffee.
I didn't realize the difference between the regular coffee grounds coffee and what my husband and I now refer to as "The Good Stuff". Wow! I guess that is what they call branching out!
Anyway, the people at work have been teasing me about my new found coffee craze. I have been bringing in my thermos of "Leaping Goats" and refusing to share! (Although, I will admit that I traded a cup for a donut one day.)
In addition to great coffee - the name is just fun! I get a kick out of the look on people's faces when I tell them about my "Leaping Goat" coffee!
Great job Bello Montana!

Happy Valentines Have You Had Your Red Coffee?
Okay I might be in the doghouse.
It's Valentine's and my honey spent a good deal of the morning letting me sleep in (yay!) and making me a yummy breakfast. And It was duly appreciated and all that good stuff, til he said ...."Did you notice the Coffee?"
At first a horrific thought struck me, I thought he had switched coffee or something then I realized that I hadn't gagged and died so it was still my yummy Bello Montana Coffee that I love.
So I said , "Ummm what?"
And he got all huffy... IT WAS RED!
I said "WHAT????"
How the heck am I supposed to see RED food coloring in black coffee?????
Oh my... He put red food coloring in my cup of oh so black Bello Montana Coffee and I hadn't noticed.... oops.
He was kinda huffy with me til I gave him his Valentine's present .
Hope you're Valentine's was just grand! I gotta go turn off my coffee pot.
Until Later,
Jo

Hair Fresh Roasted Coffee
Get this, my neighbor has been coming over every single morning, even on the yucky snowy mornings since she had a cup of Bello Montana with me about 5 months ago. And she always gets two cups.
I finally saw her husband (he leaves before I get up and I always seem to be doing something when he gets home so we rarely get to chat) and I asked him how he liked the Bello Montana Coffee and could he really tell a difference?
Waiting for him to start singing the praises like everyone does, I looked at him and he gave me this total deer in the headlights look. He didn't have a clue what I was talking about.
So the next day when my neighbor toddled over for her standard 2 cups, I said , "Whoa, wait a minute, who is the other cup for?"
She told me..."It's for my hair."
And proceeded to tell me her hair has never been more evenly colored or softer since she's been using a cup of Bello Montana on her hair....she also told me Bello Montana's Espresso Roast works best of all. But she loves the taste and agrees with me it's bar none the best coffee she's ever had - so she has a cup to drink too!
So there go you, one more use for coffee..... I'll stick to drinking it myself...it's too yummy to pour on my head!
Ahh people gotta love 'em.

Coffee and the Flu
Ick. I've had the flu and wouldn't you know it? This is the one year I believed the hype and broke down and got a flu shot. I've found myself holding my face over a hot cup of Espresso and just letting the warmth make me feel better - plus it's been about the only thing I can taste in days.
Finally today, my head didn't feel like I had a brick tied to it and all those other lovely flu symptoms I won't go into.
A friend of mine sent me her cure for the flu, since I have her permission, I'm gonna share it with you: ========================================== (Alleged) FLU CURE
1/2 cup vodka 3 hot peppers (jalapeno or chili) tabasco sauce 2 large spoonfulls of coffee
Mix all together and drink as fast as you can.... ===========================================
Okay I don't think I'm brave enough to try that remedy.........
