Next Year I'll Just Send a Card
My best friend loves coffee. Her entire family is also obsessed with all things Colorado. So for her birthday this year, I decided to order her some of Bello Montana's Blue Moose Mystical Blend coffee. (Coffee, moose, PERFECT!) I didn't tell her it was coming. I wanted it to be a surprise. Unfortunately, her husband is extremely paranoid and this is where the trouble began.
Apparently my friend opened the door to a box sitting on her porch addressed to her. She hadn't ordered anything so she called her husband who became immediately suspicious. "Who is it addressed to? Who is it from?"
My friend related the information to him and he told her in no uncertain terms that she should NOT open that box. He had not ordered anything from anyone called "Bello Montana" and neither had she and it was probably a bomb and she should call the police immediately, have them bring out the bomb squad and get their daughter out of the house. My friend fortunately was not prone to hysterics and told him that it said "coffee" on the logo and it was probably fine.
He told her again that she should not open that box. He said that if it was not a bomb the police should be called in anyway because whatever was in the box (be it coffee or not) would need to be examined for possible anthrax poisoning.
After assuring her husband that she would do just that and hanging up the phone, curiosity won out and my friend opened the box to find -- coffee. She then called me to get my opinion on the situation and I almost died laughing.
I ran over to her place and we sampled the new coffee blend (which we found delightful!). When her husband got home a bit later we entertained him with "dying" scenes and jokes at his expense. He'll never live it down.
